Description
Jagermeister 1L is a traditional German herbal liqueur produced by Mast‑Jägermeister SE in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. The product was developed in 1934 and the recipe with 56 botanical ingredients has remained unchanged since. These ingredients include, among others, citrus peel, licorice, anise, ginger, coriander, and saffron, which together create the distinctive bittersweet and aromatic flavor profile.
. The production process begins by mixing and macerating the herbs and spices in alcohol and water, followed by filtration, aging in oak barrels, and recombining with sugar and other components to form the final liqueur. The taste is rich and complex with a light sweetness and spiced bitterness, and the color is dark brown.
Jagermeister can traditionally be served ice‑cold, directly from the freezer, which softens the taste and brings out the herbal aromas more fully. Besides being taken as a neat shot, the liqueur is also used in modern cocktails, such as variants with tonic or other mixers.
